Eyes beginning to improve lost 2.5 stone 5 to go...started Metformin terrible constipation !!! No idea how long I have been diabetic could be two years but I hope not !!! was at 107 down to 100 after 3 weeks of dieting b now on week 8so hopefully by next 3 month blood test I will be lower. Very frightened about the damage I might have done and bit depressed!!! No idea how long it takes before you get damage... Been eating twice a day at 12 & 7 and fasting between... thinking of doing a couple of days on shakes. Really want to beat this! Been cutting Carbs and looking at calories, but can't figure out how many carbs a day or a meal ? Vegetarian so a bit of a challenge ! Dropped everything what based have the occasional jacket potato. Missing ice cream !!! Discover celery walnut apple and some very strong grated cheese and a bit of mayo is incredibly filling !!! Scrambled egg on Giant mushrooms with grilled tomato wonderful !!!
Made a curry and batch froze it using a ready made mix of spices may have a go at casserole...very lazy cook !!!
Does anyone know any healthy instant sauces ?
You might find that your curry is extremely spicy and perhaps a little strange in flavour - I always freeze just the basic, unspiced meal and then defrost and mix in whatever is needed.
I still remember being served a curry which had been frozen when freezers were still a novelty - almost blew off the top of my head and brought tears to the eyes.

I find the flavour is often better when it has been frozen. I make double amount or more and freeze for a homemade 'ready meal'

Good luck . i am sure you can do this.

Hi,
I have just finished the book - reversing type 2 diabetes by Prof Roy Taylor. It says you should aim to lose 15k but not sure if that is good and has anyone read this book
Listened to it on audible it went in better than reading think he is brilliant have dropped for 18 stone to 15 10.... bit stuck so may do a day on shakes a week...

Did survey. It reminds me that I lost more than 10% of my bodyweight and went to remission. Hba1C went from 55 to 37 in 100 days..... i would say that the Newcastle diet of Prof Roy Taylor saved me. but now i have put 4kg back on and am really dieting again. I know what to do.

my HbA1c remained at 38 despite weight gain so i know both it and low carb are essential. Now need to lose the 4kg....
well done !!! keep going I have just embarked on this diet and t will be long haul but hoping to will work!

I have just completed week 3 but a couple of “events” have meant I haven’t stuck to it as intended. Using a mixture of Kee Diet shakes and “real” food. Lost just over 1st in those 3 weeks, 8lbs was in the first week when I really stuck to it. Bought myself a blood glucose monitor 4 days ago as I have never been asked by doctor to monitor it. Only doing fasting reading first thing each morning and they have been 8.3 mmol, 7.1 , 6.2 , 7.5 so a bit all over the place. Putting the hard work in from today, sticking strictly to the diet and getting that reading down and stable

I am doing the same but not using the shakes at all but not read much of book doing Diabetes UK diet online. Have you had a very upset tummy through this at all. My readings are similar but a bit higher as only first week.

Oh YES !!! And there doesn’t appear to be any pattern, e.g. every time I eat a certain thing. I blame the metformin. Never had issues until I started this diet but noted that Prof.Taylor suggested stopping medication the day you start. My doctor told me to keep taking so doing as I am told

well done you did you drink fluids the rest of the time ? Or does fast mean fast?

If you are talking of fasting in terms of a religious fast as in Ramadan then no people can't even drink water. However otherwise in terms of an intermittent fasting regime especially if people are taking medication like empagliflozin it would be dangerous not to drink enough fluid.

yes the empaglifloxin makes me drink a lot ,if anything I feel I am more like a diabetic on it than off it. As I drink every waking hour and more. If I am up in the night and I want a drink I have it. I did not drink as much when my sugar was high. I said its been hot too but hubby notices. Unless its the high fat diet that makes me drink. I always bought half , low fat or zero fat before. But cream , cheese, olive oil are all regular now. I never would have had cream, always skimmed milk, cheese was usually 33% and Olive oil was spray. Just a few diet changes... Was in the library looking for books very quiet village so librarian asked me what I was looking for. His knowledge was greater than the Drs he said and these American Drs say keto or low Carb is bad and to go Plant based by Gregor etc.
This is working but long term no as you cant eat out or ever have say a cake/biscuit or anything with coffee. Not even low calorie. High protein bars were 16 carbs as are any low crisps etc .
In the shops there is no cookies the ones online are £1.50 or more.
I am sticking to lose weight but thinking ahead on holiday in Sept then Christmas....
Otherwise I am doing well.

But I am thinking if you get this you will want that.... Greener grass.
