'so let me get this straight - if your having a hypo Ive to inject you with your insulin?' - a 'trying to be vigilant' colleague just last week - bless

"Oh, you're having a hypo, would you like a glass of water?" Another helpful colleague.

"Do you think there is a connection between you having diabetes and having ginger hair?"

the latest theory on ginger hair is that its from Neanderthals. Every sample from neanderthals remains seems to show the gene ( McF1 or whatever its called ) for red hair.
So the presence of ginger hair in human populations is suggested as evidence that early humans interbred with neanderthals.
Ug, Ug grunt, grunt, grunt 😉

How about this from my Aunt "I have a touch of Diabetes" not like you though.

Well who knows? My paternal Grandma was, apparently red headed (she died when my Dad was quite young) and so is my big sister. Who was diagnosed T2 a few years ago. Perhaps it skips a generation! LOL

Oh I'm sorry Andy - I couldn't have resisted a retort summat like, 'Now you mention it, you could be right, couldn't you? I mean - Harry Secombe, Paul Mabbutt and Steve Redgrave are all famous for being lesbian, aren't they?'

Hi Trophywench - I replied something about the sugar plumb fairy but it went right over their head 🙂

That i'm 'not diabetic then' errr yes I am! I think having blood sugars at least once a week +12mmol (or even lower really) qualifies me for it!

And i'm not that interesting...

You're lucky you can eat as many sweets as you like
and
anyone with diabetes smells of sugar

I can happily say I have not experienced the majority of these inaccuracies....🙂

"ooo you're diabetic? are you high or low?

"ooo you're diabetic? that's when you have too much sugar isn't it....did you eat lots of sweets when you were a kid?"

"you can't eat that"

"I'm having a hypo.... - here's an orange"

"I'm having a hypo.... - quick, inject!"

"has your mum/dad got diabetes then?" "where did you get yours from?"

so so many.... :(

Has she been listen to Karl Pilkington? He's said that before.

Marc

Never, I can't believe he said that pinched it off her. 😉 She said it first to my Mum & she died 5yrs ago, she still says it even thought I know she is on medication now.
Ooooo I would love to retort, but I promised Mum to keep quiet for the sake of family peace, keeping my mouth shut is not natural for me.:D
