Little Miss Chatterbox
Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Any contributions welcome...........
Obviously the main one for me is type 2s have to be 40+ and weight copious amounts...which is some cases is not true.

Mine is similar - that Type 1 occurs in childhood and if you're over 40 it must be Type 2!

' healthy eating ' regime is the way to go ... no good if you are not aware of the 'sugar' implications ....😉

You can't eat that your diabetic.

"your diabetic? what one are you...high or low?"

and

"You have to have insulin when your low dont you" ......🙄

Along with the "Can you eat that?" YES!!! 😡

You obviously haven't got it as bad as he has then (cos "he" had had his foot amputated....)

A toss up between:
"but if you change your lifestyle it'll go away"
and more recently
"didn't Halle Berry cure herself?"

Incidentally, to date the only person to offer me barfly dietary advice is a smoker who recently survived mouth cancer ...

""Your diet is fine" ..........High carb.

''Do you still have diabetes?'' ''You feeling low do you need your insulin?'' ''Won't offer you a drink as I know you have diabetes'' ''Did you eat too much sugar before getting diabetes?''

There's many more:(

Awwww, she'll grow out if it though, won't she? :(

Grandma still thinks Carol can't have chocolate, but she can have anything else (cake, ice-cream etc.)

type 1 diabetes is more serious than type 2.

we've heard it again in the sob story about Amelia in x factor.

They are both serious in their own right.

I mentioned this in a thread last year, the best one I had was is being gay something to do with your diabetes.

For one tiny second, I wanted to smack them with me handbag 🙂

If you are taking antiretroviral drugs for HIV then your risk of Type 2 is higher.
Whoever said this has assumed that HIV only occurs if you are gay, another inaccuracy, and this was reported inaccurately in the media at some time.

I would imagine it's just plain old ignorance/bigotry on their part. The 2 go hand in hand.

They may also have been battered with the stupid stick at some point. :D

Oh I'm sorry Andy - I couldn't have resisted a retort summat like, 'Now you mention it, you could be right, couldn't you? I mean - Harry Secombe, Paul Mabbutt and Steve Redgrave are all famous for being lesbian, aren't they?'

Lots Of Adults Say "he Is Going To Grow Out Of It " Obviously Lots Of People Dont Know That There Is Not A Cure For It

I've just remembered something that was repeated to me just after I returned to school followin diagnosis.

Apparently a friend's mum thought part of my stay in hospital was because I needed to have all my blood changed.😱

It was a long time ago and people didn't have the internet. 🙄
