I think I've mentioned this before, but over the past 18 months or so I've jotted down a list of books that I'd like to read, suggested by friends, or referred to in other books, YouTube Videos and so on
Starting this year, January 2025 I finally made a start on them and ordered a couple at a time from the library
Some were available from Lancashire Libraries, some were unavailable, not even with a national search, and for one book the librarian said she'd heard of it and instead of ordering it, bought it for the libraries
I read most of the books I received but for one I just couldn't take to it, and gave up after a couple of chapters, despite the fact that others thought it was excellent and had read it 2 or 3 times (Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov if you're interested; though I see that there is a free film version on YouTube, I might try again and watch that over the winter nights)
Now I have the last two on my list -
English Journey by J B Priestly
A Hero for High Times by Ian Marchant
I got them yesterday, and after a brief scan of each I'm fairly certain that I will read them both - we shall see.
