What are you reading?

Finished Find Her Alive, a good read with a twist.
NOw starting Chilled by Kendra Elliott.

Finished Chilled, it was difficult to get into , but OK once I did.
Now started Buried by Kendra Elliott.

Rereading The Pelican Brief.

It confirms my opinion that Grisham's recent output isn't half as good. Seems to happen to a lot of previously great authors.

Mythos by Stephen Fry. Always loved a bit of Greek Mythology. These are not the myths I read as a child. These are like original fairy tales vs the Disney versions. Pretty gruesome and violent, enjoying the read

I agree. I was a big John Grisham fan until his last book, it was so rubbish I can’t even remember what it was called! Same with Lee Child and James Pattinson, their latest books are so formulaic. They’ve had their day and a nice juicy pay packet, they should just retire with grace.

Not read any of those authors, but have found the same with Jo Nesbro, and Ian Rankin.

Shame about Rankin, I had a lot of respect for him. I've only read one Nesbo, my mum likes his books but I wasn't impressed.

Lee Child passed the writing baton to his brother which might explain the recent drop in quality.

Finished Buried, had an unexpected twist, and really enjoyed it.
Now started Blood and Guts by E.D.James.

Sarah millicans biography called 'champion'......hilarious so far

Finished Blood and Guts a good read.
Now started The Snow Graves by Roger Stellis.

Half way through Guys and Dolls by Damon Runyon which is a set of very funny short stories about New York in the late 20s and early 30s, you have probably seen the film which is only, very, loosely based on the story. I must warn you that some of the dialogue uses words that ARE NOT considered acceptable today and it's very much of its's time. So be warned.

Finished The Snow Graves , enjoyed.
Now started Nihght Shadows by Eva Bjorg Aegisdottir.

Finished The Night Shadows, another book with a twisty plot.
Now started Secrets in Blood by Jack Cartwright.

Finished Written In Blood, enjoyed this one.
Now started The Turning of our Bones by ED James a Scottish Police.

Currently reading Outbreak by Frank Gardner. Recently read Crisis and Ultimatum by him and they’re cracking reads.

The hospital has a volunteer run library but I have only seen it once! I made the mistake of borrowing a book without checking the font. The book is Fighter Boys (Saving Britain 1940) by Patrick Bishop. The start makes it seem an interesting book but the font is borderline in anything but the very best light and even then my eyes tire quickly. I thought I will get this for my Fire tablet but I felt it was quite pricey especially as it is devoid of the period photographs that add to the book. Another time, another place maybe.

If you have read it what did you think?

Half way through How to be champion by sarah millican......mostly autobiography with a touch of self help thrown in

Finished The Turning of Bones, another with a twisty plot.
Started The Hope That Kills by ED James.
