Does anyone else suffer with constant weight loss? I know I should be pleased but I am really not trying to lose any more weight and yet it seems to be trickling off all the time. I was diagnosed in March last year with type 2 & am taking 2 metformin twice a day with meals. I started off weighing 11st 12lb (around a size 14-16) - I tried very hard to lose weight & got myself to under 10st a few months back - I seemed to maintain 9st 7lb for a little while but when I got weighed yesterday & I am 9st 3lb - enough is enough - I've already had to get a load of new clothes (which is lovely) but I just don't want to carry on losing weight or I will whither away! I am not an athelete & my excercise consists of a walk with the dog!! I think I eat a balanced diet, I also got my BG to around 8 in February, which for me was great but having done nothing different by BG's are around 10 or 11 now. I'm very confused. Any advice?

Have you spoken to your doctor about the extra weight loss and also the fact that your levels are now generally higher? High blood sugar levels can lead to weight loss because it indicates that there is not enough insulin circulating (or it is not being used properly) so the glucose in your blood is not being used efficiently as a source of energy. In this situation your body will get the energy it needs by burning fat. It may be that you need your medication reviewing so that your body can use the glucose more efficiently.

Thank you for that - I hadn't considered that at all. I think I should perhaps go & see my GP again. It's so annoying when I seemed to get my bloods at a good level & maintained it for a few weeks & now Im back to the highs again. Ho hum! Thanks for the advice anyway, will act on that.

I'd agree with Northy on this - that's my first instinctive reaction - are your levels too high. Having said that though, stress can make you lose weight. I am in the situation of really struggling to keep around 8 stone, it drops off very quickly I find. Everyone hates me for this of course!! Anyway in the first instance see your doc and maybe that will solve it for you.

I don't hate you Karen, you look pretty normal to me luv!

I conclude I've just got middle-aged shrink, meself. Perhaps you have too? LOL

(If Northie can be a Type 7 diabetic, I'm damn sure we could have what we've got)
