I noticed on another thread you were having splits at the corner of your mouth
I haven't had them since I was diagnosed and started insulin, they were due to the undiagnosed Type 1 not a lack of any vitamin and I'm exploring all options while I wait on a response from my DSN, no harm in that xx

I agree about the B vitamins for a split mouth. I got my Vitamin D tested as part of my diabetic checks @Kaylz
As I've just mentioned, they disappeared as soon as I started insulin and was caused by the undiagnosed diabetes and high BG, consultant and dentist are of the same opinion on it and I won't be going anywhere for checks until I feel ready to do so I'm afraid xx

Our Lidl (which is quite small) does have a small range of vitamins.

I wasn’t suggesting you go now. I haven’t had my bloods this time yet either. X

Just letting you know that it’s something they can do.

I'll see if Bruce has time to look when he's in tomorrow xx

The Lidl effervescent Vitamin C tablets are under £1, if I recall. We chose not to use those as both of us found them quite sweet for our taste, but the ones we bought did contain 1gr Vit C, so decent dose.

thanks but the amount of potatoes, broccoli and sprouts I eat I wouldn't say I need vitamin c xx

I doubt very much we are deficient either. We take it because those with decent levels, allegedly do better, if they are unlucky enough to contract COVID.

For us (on the Lidl tablets), that's 99p a month/3p a day, to tilt the scales just a bit in our favour. Seems like a bargain to me.

(Those finding themselves with very high levels of Vit C would find themselves just weeing it out anyway.)

At the end of the day Kaylz, like the rest of us you have to and should do what you feel is best for yourself.

I only take Vit D3 capsules. I don’t subscribe to the multivitamin con, because I eat a varied omnivore diet. Meat, fish, fruit and veg. And as a doctor in hospitals or general practice, I have never come across anyone with vitamin deficiency. It’s hard to get vitamin deficient these days, with so many foods, especially cereals and bread, are fortified with vitamins.

Vegans, of course, are at much greater risk of vitamin deficiency, mainly B12, which is rarely found in non animal foods, and where it does appear is not in the same essential quantity you need.

Well DSN emailed back today advising I contact GP

Used the eConsult service but missed the 2 calls due to cleaning the bathroom when my grandad came in so yet again my issues were put on the back burner for others :(

Hopefully they'll manage to call back on Monday between 10-11am like I've asked the receptionist as that's the only time I'll be available to take any calls (due to others)
xx

I did a course of Vitamin D horse tablets from the doc last year as did most of my family. I was quite insulted at first associating it with past workhouse, rickets and being poor and stuff, but apparently lots of people are Vit D deficient now. I keep trying to remember to take my shades off when I'm out so the sun can get in my eyes!

I remember been given welfare orange and cod liver oil capsules as a child.

Ooh, we had cod liver oil and malt, which came in a big brown jar and I can still conjure up the memory of the taste, I thought it was lovely!

We had both when we were nippers, we used to fight over the malt. When I tasted it again when grown up I nearly threw up! :D

I have malt in the cupboard.
I use it when I bake malt loaf. Not found any other use for it.
But it's worth it: homemade malt loaf is so much nicer than that Soreen stuff I used to like until I found out it was a mere shadow of real malt loaf.

I have used to make malt loaf in the past.

i have started taking a multi vitamin along with a stronger vit c as recommended by a urologist.

Waiting to hear from a GP on Monday hopefully (if I can accept the call 🙄 ) xx
