Well done Vince. Brilliant results.

Perhaps you could go in and tell the GPs and nurses how you managed it all.
That would certainly benefit others and them. I did this and then produced a signposting sheet for the nurses to give to other patients at their Diabetes checks. It encouraged a few to access the support available outside the surgery as well as saving the surgery some time.
Good Idea SB I just discovered hat ths Dr I am seeing on Monday sits on the Diabetes Council here in Newcastle.

That is a great idea. Vince I am all ears 🙂 Would love to hear about your experience.
Hi Smitha
🙂
Really not rocket science to be totaly honest.
Very low carbs less than 60g per day when possible from day 1
No rice, noodles, bread, sweets, chocs, biscuits, ice cream, fruit juice in fact nohthing that has the remotest risk of high carbs and sugars. and certainly above 20gr per portion with the exception of my Oatmeal and All-Bran
I cold turkeyed on these carbs immediately. No if's or but's, just cut them out pronto.
Complete lifestyle change. and I mean a complete one.
High protein low carb foods and I didn't give a hoot about the fat content.
Black coffee.
Water perhaps with a lemon infused.
Only berries, e.g. blue.berries, etc
I eat a heck of a lot of meat all kinds and steaks, eggs in any form, fish, including shellfish, some green veg, steamed onions, and I do eat baked beans .
I eat until I am full but continued to loose weight which is vital.
3 meals per day no snacking at all.
Walk after lunch around 2 kms per day
Don't deviate from tthat routine.
Ruddy strong willpower.
Quite basic really.
Hope that helps Smitha.

Hi Vince, I Knew being full of Beans could conquer anything ! Now 's the tricky part monitoring and controlling Diabetes without medication and self monitoring, and DON'T PUT ON WEIGHT !
PS. I no longer take pain killers for my back, shoulder and neck pain, I have replaced my old sports HEAT PAD with a New Luxury HEATED PAD ( £30+ @ Argos), It's so soft and comfy, I can put it on my pillow,
there are 5 heat setting, I only use 3 or 1. Plenty of extra heat if you need it, instantly. Strongly recommend for BONE and MUSCLE pain, good to use during the day. Well hope you are breaking in your new WALKING BOOTS, remember the more you EAT the more you have to EXERCISE. Cheers All the Best Clive55555

Thank you so much Vince for your detailed explanation.
You seem to have been very good on yourself and quite strict and all your hardwork definitely paid off. I am a vegetarian and tries my best to adjust the protein and still learning on the carb factor but hopefully by this month end HbA1c would say it all and shall let you all know. You are a great inspiration and thanks for taking time. So your doctor said that your BG has gone back to non diabetic range right? I guess they call it reversal or putting on remission right? I wish all doctors and Diabetic nurse has awareness on the same. Mine definitely do not believe it but my endocrinologist back home definitely was motivating and she believe in it. So what happens to someone who has reversed and ate a piece of cake or maybe a candy and would their blood glucose still remain in non diabetic range? I have all sort of question and please excuse if it is silly. Have a great weekend and enjoy your achievement. Cheers!!!

Wow. Well done Vince. What sort of fats do you eat other than meat? The cholesterol level is brilliant not to mention hba1c. Not sure I could manage under 60g a day. My hba1c was 35 last time (pre diabetic last year) and I self-test just to check it is staying in order. Would have liked hba1c in the 20s but was told that is not always possible and there is nothing wrong with my reading.

I class myself @Smitha as a T2 in remission and I will stay in that condition as long as I continue to be careful and monitor. Like my smoking, I quit, but will always be a smoker and I know only 1 cigarette is potentially lethal to my starting again and I smoked 40+ per day.
Tofu is good for a vegetarian, I found it had no effect on my BG whatsoever.
I would assume, and I am no expert, is that 1 piece of candy etc would be fine, 2 or 3 would not be.
Last summer in Shanghai, because of the heat, I was going through 7 or 8 ice creams per day plus litres of Minute Maid Orange Juice and I mean litres. That would not have helped my levels at all lol at the time 🙄
I was known as
冰淇淋的人
Bingqilin de ren
Ice cream people
😎
I even bought a new fridge for the office just for ice cream lol
Talk about OTT 🙂

Great @Maz2
I eat a lot of fish also mainly smoked salmon or salmon fillets, tinned tuna also a lot of cheese.
Smoked Salmon because it is easy.
Always butter and I was having full fat milk.
I was amazed at my cholesterol level also seeing as I eat 1/2 a cow each week lol but that is what it is. At one time my lever was 8.
Quitting smoking and starting to Vape also helped that issue dramatically.
I do take a statin each day for that but I am going to come off that also.
I am fed up with carting pills around the world whenever I go anywhere to be honest.
My grandfather was a butcher and as a kid in the 50's we always had plenty of meat so I guess my metabolism has become used to it.

T2 remission is a great achievement and as long as we are aware of our diet and continue with the new lifestyle things could be great isnt it? I am sure that is a great thing for anyone who is living with T2. Don't you think our healthcare providers should be more aware of this and give a positive vibe for whoever is newly diagnosed or living with T2. Luckily i was diagnosed from India and i had an amazing endocrinologist cum diabetologist who was aware of this and was positive and came over to UK and was shocked to see that my DN was very negative about it. I am so glad that this forum and everyone of you has been so positive and motivating.
I hope you continue not to smoke and stay healthy 🙂
So you are that famous Ice cream guy from Shanghai 🙂
I can imagine how easy it is to have that many no of icecreams and those yummy minute maid orange juice in that heat. I personally prefer the one with orange bits which used to be my fav 🙂
So continuity is the key i assume ........once again thanks a lot for your time Vince. Have a lovely day.
