Hello fellow fighters!
Now 8 weeks since type 2 diagnosis. Thought I'd post an update, as promised.

Sticking to the low carb approach and enjoying trying new recipes.
Lost 12lbs in total, and 2 inches off my waist.
Have more energy and feel better than I can remember.
BS fingerprick tests are typically 7.5 to 8 first thing, 6.5 to 7 the rest of the day.
I'm confident that my Hba1c in Jan will show an improvement.
Had a diabetic education session at my local hospital and the dietitian thought I was making excellent progress in BS readings, weight loss etc. She advocated the low carb, healthy fats approach which I've been doing.

Massive thank you to everyone on here for your support and advice. You're all smashing.

Now for my silly question! In the last 2 weeks, the white coating on my tongue which I've had for 9 years, has disappeared. I assume this is due to my new diet and is a positive sign. Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this?

Great work, Adele - good for you! 😛:D😛 Glad to hear you’re feeling so well too.🙂

Well Done Adele🙂

Hi Adele

That white coating on your tongue is due to inflamed papillae trapping dead skin and possibly opportunist bacteria. All this would be encouraged in the presence of excess sugar in the blood. Now that the sugar is normal, everything clears up with normal teeth cleaning and mouthwash. Magic.🙂

And well done with the BGs and diet. Your insides will be benefitting just like your tongue!

Mike

Well done.🙂

Great to hear Adele 🙂 I bow to Mike's knowledge about white tongue causes, so won't offer my own opinion which would be entirely fictional! 🙂

Good job, keep up the good work, I'm sure you will be pleased with your January review 🙂

That's great news, well done! Good to hear that you're feeling better generally too. All going well 🙂

Thanks Mike.

I figured there would be a scientific reason. Thanks for the explanation, all a learning curve....
