I've had a chat with my DSN today and we've looked at everything and it seems that Northerner's first reply was correct, it's down to the gastroparesis, the liquid is simply sitting in my stomach and doing nothing. I have a lot to learn about gastroparesis it seems, haven't been told anything about it other than to take the pills. I have bought some fruit jelly sweets today and will try to go with that and always have glucotabs on me, see how it responds. HbA1c gone up again too, 7.3 now.

All-in-all I feel a bit down about everything at the moment, it's like fighting a losing battle.

Hi Newbs,
sorry to say I haven't kept up with everyones problems as plenty going on with my family at the moment.
If the gastroparesis is the cause of your problems, perhaps try some liquid glucose. It can be found in the cake dept in most supermarkets. Comes in a tube and just desolves in your mouth so no extra strain on your tummy. Tastes just fine as well 🙂 Carbs are about 4 per teaspoon.

Whatever you use - and you wouldn't want to do this with Hypostop - wallpaper paste ! (never tried to consume that but it's what I imagine it would feel like in my mouth) -if you can let it 'roll round' your mouth for a while (not good for the teeth but Hey Ho, I always think as I do it, into all our lives a little rain must fall) especially into your cheeks, kind of like mouthwash? - the glucose starts being absorbed through the inside of your mouth.

This GETS to you almost immediately and may help you quicker. That's why - if you can stand it, chewing something is likely to work better than just gulping down Lucozade without it touching the sides.

Have you tried Lucozade tablets as opposed to the drink? From a pharmacy - but not outrageously expensive.

I treat C with orange juice if between 3-4 full coca cola if below 3 because its work faster than orange juice. Mind you C is only 4 ;-)

... and hasn't got gastroparesis , Ruth.
