I make my own yogurt from skim milk.
I have always added a bit of this or that into it, flax seed, sliced almonds, raisins, and a little of whatever takes my fancy, (usually a fresh fruit- apple, or plum &c.)
Then I dump the whole thing onto porridge oats (don't tell my neighbours, I would be hung at dawn!) that have been soaked with water from the kettle.

So I have stopped add-ons any dried or fresh fruit and just counting it as milk. Does that sound right? My post meal test always jumps up at least by 2, and the porridge is a very small amount. 20g dry.

What do you think?

When you say your post meal test, do you mean a couple of hours after eating? A post meal jump of 2 is quite acceptable 🙂 Sounds very tasty too! 🙂

Yes, 2 hrs.
It's nice. And I know nothing's in the yogurt but yogurt. (Except if I add something after its made.)
Thanks, that's great. I am so not interested in cooking in the morning, so this has always been easy.

So you're getting carbs from the dried and fresh fruit and the oats. Personally I don't spike much at all by putting some dried fruit (about 25g) in my morning yoghurt, but if I have a 30g bowl of porridge, even with a low sugar milk like almond or hazelnut, I'll still be +2 after 2 hours.

I thought +2-3 was ok after a meal? My number will rise about 2. But a twice now, when I had just the plain yogurt the number 2hrs post meal was a little lower. That surprised me! I figured I must have done some thing wrong with the meter.

Most authorities say a rise of 2-3 mmol/l an hour or two after eating is perfectly acceptable, since it also happens to people who don't have diabetes 🙂

I too sometimes get a drop after meals too especially breakfast.

Thanks, all. Yes, grovesy, it only hapened after breakfast, the drop. So it is the same thing, then when I go to sleep, the reading is lower than when I wake up?
