I nearly nearly got it right!!
Not quite a pizza - However...
The last time I went out for a curry, I went to bed in the Safe zone and woke up @ 20+ mmol I havnt been up there in a while and havnt been back since.
It really put me off having currys, but I thoguht this weekend Id give it another go using some of the fantastic advise Ive had of this site.
Ive been playing about with split injections for High fat High carb meals and had a little success recently- I thoguht Id apply it too my curry and here are the results...
We went out to the local so had a couple of beers with it too - This is what I recorded.
@6:45 - BG 6.5mmol pre meal
7pm - took 1.5u To cover the 2 pints I planned on having of lager
7.30 - Total 100 g of carbs (Total 8 u required for food) Jalfrezi curry and a nan bread plus a popudom up front - 1 u injected in anticpation of popudum in a few mins for the popudum.
7.45 - 4.5u injected in anticpation of food within 20 minutes. Total of insulin for food now in me approx 65%.
8pm - Ate the carb & fat loaded feast
9pm - Dropped low - 3.2mmol/l - 8 G of carbs consumed (Will add an extra half unit to my total for later because of this)
10pm - 6.3mmol/l & 1.5u - Now 7u of 8.5u required taken
11pm - 6.8mmol/l & 1.5u - Now 8.5u of 8.5u taken
12pm - 8.6mmol/l Still have insulin on board
12:30 - 7.0mmol/l Caught the 4 hour spike as predicted perfect by the looks
3:40am - 7.4mmol/l All good in the hood!!
8:00am - 3.4 - Could be alcohol, or could be basal needs addressing.
My initial thoughts are that the results are good. However To stop the low an hour after eating, i maybe only need 50% insulin up front and then do more of % later on...
Any thoughts?
