I made swede chips last night for the first time and loved them!
A swede is a lot tougher to cut through than a potato but it's worth it. Peel and slice into "chips" boil for 5 mins. Put a sliver of lard in a plastic bag, add the warm "chips", season with salt and pepper and shake well. Ensure the chips are coated with the fat. Bake in a hot oven for about 25 mins. They are not as firm and crispy as chips, but if you have that craving they do the job.
So we had burger (on a cos lettuce leaf, no bread) and "chips" with a dollop of alioli for tea. Bloomin lovely!
