Relationship to Diabetes
Hi, my partner ws diagnosed with type 2 a couple of years ago and is lucky that it was caught early, he treats with tablets and all health checks he says are good. He has naturally low blood pressure but continues to eat a high fat, salt and sugar diet and doesn't try to lose weight any more. He also doesnt get any regular exercise so I don't think he's looking after himself or trying to reverse the condition when he quite easily could. This makes me sad and cross. Initially at diagnosis he was worried and took it seriously but now the only change he's made is diet drinks and a sugar substitute on porridge in the morning. Should I be worried or can he eat what he wants whenever he wants without worrying because he takes the tablets and has low bp?

Hi @Moris welcome, we need a bit more info to be able to give advice, for instance when he has his health checks what are his HbA1c results, these measure the blood glucose levels over the previous 3 months, so if these are ok it may well be ok for him to continue with what he doing now although very few T2 diabetics get away with just cutting down sugars a bit and have to reduce our intake of carbohydrates not only the simple sugars but the more complex starches..
If you can find out what his HbA1c result was we can offer further advice...

Hi Morris and welcome to the forums 🙂 I can understand your concern but as @Martin9 has said, whilst there will be other changes he can make, it does depend on what his numbers are saying?
