I find Gouda a bit boring and usually have to dig all the packs of that to find the odd bit of Gruyere that might be hiding in the bottom of the box... if I am lucky! Just as well we are all different. It is bad enough that most of the people around here seem to prefer the Gruyere too and leave the Gouda!

I must confess that I buy a lot of cheese and I really love their selection. If you can get some of their Cornish Blue that is yum but not available very often. I also love the Gorgonzola Piccante they sell and their Blue Stilton which is a staple on my list..... having spent my whole life loathing blue cheese, it has become my new chocolate!

The minted lamb steaks are nice as well as the beef.

Fav cheese is stilton, could eat it with every meal, goes well grilled on top of sirloin stake, will be buying half wheel this week to go with crackers on xmas evening.

I must be missing it! Just been tonight and didn't see any. Is it with the other pickles or on a specialist aisle?
They had some today with the other pickles but not much choice.

Thanks Colin. Will have to put specs on and look more closely in my local Lidl.

I miss Lidl. I haven't shopped in an actual shop since February. I am used to Tesco now and I am pleased with their Dawtona Pickled Gherkins 3.7g carbs per 100g. I am addicted to them but I ration them. I have a huge jar as my Christmas treat waiting. I haven't had sauerkraut for ages. Love it with good german sausages and very small sprinkling of dried apple mixed in the cooking. And reading about beetroot now has me pining for Borscht made the way my dad used to make it - chilled and mixed with dill and vinegar and served with cold mashed potatoes mixed with sour cream. I suppose it could work with mashed celeriac.

Lidl do good pickled gherkins and they are one of my go to munchies at the moment as lower carb than beetroot.

Your descriptions of Lidl is very funny, in my town we have 6 of them and it’s only a small town, but you have to go to 2 or 3 of them at the weekends to get all you need the nicer treats are in the one in the more affluent side of town but the best milk and cheese are in the middle of the road side and the best veggies are in the one where most of the Turkish people live, the independent Turkish grocery shops always the the best veg for some reason
