Needles and lancets aren't anything like the problem as strips and insulin - sharp things can be reused, other things can't!
Of course, but just like the principle of "your last Rolo", you'd never put your last lancet / needle in the sharps box, would you?

I need to see the doctor and get them to rationalise the script items so I'm not having to go back every week or two for something. If they can't trust me with it all, then I'll hand it back and they can do my injections for me. They'd soon get fed up with the calculations, let alone treating the resultant hypos and hypers.

I managed to persuade my GP to give me 50 days worth of needles and strips as my other medications were all 56 days - almost works! 🙂
Ah but, what they don't know is that I have secret stashes in my bad and around the house. I reckon I could survive a week if I was forced to.
Doing 5 a day, I try to be a bit more careful with the injections because the rotation is a bit more frequent and the skin can get a bit sore at times. If I was reusing, I suspect I'd end up running out of sites pretty quickly.
Just a little question. Is that the reason for not reusing then? That the sites are in danger of not being usable?
I only ask because I test infrequently and don't remember when I last changed the lancet (and it doesn't hurt yet).
Andy 🙂
Lancets I rarely change. It's the needles I meant Andy.
Although my fingers do get bruised, they tend to take the strain a bit easier. And I can always find alternative sites.
The insulin is a bit more fussy where it goes, damn it ! 🙄

Ooops! Yep, I stand corrected!![]()
I've actually got a box of the accu chek lancet drums, each containg 6 lancets.
I reckoned it would last me about 2 years at least. If they gave me about 20 boxes of needles in advance, I needn't bother them for a year or so.
That and maybe 52 boxes of strips, a few boxes of each insulin and 13 boxes of the tablets.

I find those drum lancets with the Accu-Chek stabber go blunt a LOT quicker than the normal lancets. Like if I get a whole days stabs out of one (one lancet, not one drum, LOL) I marvel at how long it's lasted.

They last me for weeks! 😱 🙂
I had a review at Sainsbury's but found them very helpful, they asked if I was happy to take part and made an appointment for me at a time convenient to me. Maybe I was one of the lucky ones
Just don't spend the voucher on diabetic chocolate, Sue, although sensible pharmacist might mean they don't even sell it at that chemists? Perhaps some nice toiletries or essentials like toothpaste?
