Hi,
I have tried now to measure in real time to see if my blood sugar levels are affected by 0 sugar (actually it says it has 0.5 g sugar per 100 ml) squash with sweeteners. I was having 5.1 mmol/L before drinking the orange glass with sweetener. I did drink it quickly, in about 30 seconds 250 ml. All of a sudden, in a few minutes, my CGM monitor went high from 5.1 to 5.8 mmol. I checked the fingers also and it was worse, saying it's 6.6 mmol/L. How is this possible? Shouldn't squash with sweeteners not raise the blood sugar and especially so much? Also did an experiment with diet coke and the same happened, the blood sugar spiked similarly. Any explanation as to why this happens?
