Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Most people here will know that I have a friend called William who lives next door and whom I visit quite often. Some of you have met him.

I've been a bit worried for some time because he's been complaining of constantly aching feet, and now he says that he's getting very thirsty as well. I've told him that he should be tested for Type 2, but he says that he's had a urine test and it was negative. However, I suspect that this may be because he has a high renal threshhold, as I did when Dx.

Should he have a blood test, as I suspect he should?

I think it would be worth having the test Robert - I certainly wish I had gone to my doctor much sooner rather than just living with the symptoms. As you know, a usine test may not show anything if his BG levels are below 10 but they might still be higher than normal. I hope that it turns out to be something much simpler and easy to treat. 🙂

I agree he should also.........

the quicker you catch it the better....

If you've got a meter Robert, could you test him ?

I have a feeling that next time he attends a meet he will be tested that much he may need to borrow some blood:D

But seriously yes get the test, it's better to have a negative test so a condition can be eliminated and be closer to the true cause than to not have it.

I agree with the others, test him, if he'll let you.

I have tested myself a few times when I felt a bit extra thirsty (most likely due to dehydration, as I don't drink enough). I nearly tested OH, when he got worried, but in the end he just used a diastix and a ketostix.

How's William?
