Hi @trophywench I've been using a bolus advisor since 2015 when I was introduced to the Accu-chek aviva expert so the problem is that sadly I now rely on a bolus advisor
Why is it a problem for you to rely on one? You always have meter with you and having the logs of carbs and insulin makes it easier to review and adjust doses.

I rely on a bolus adviser too Gill - i still have my old Expert, and would continue to use it (or the mySugr app) if I went back to MDI long term. But I use the bolus adviser on my pump, and find it really helps.
The benefit for me is that I can make smaller adjustments as my insulin needs change through the year, and don't have to stick to 1:10 to keep the maths easy. I can go 1:9 or 1:11 to adjust up or down by 10% (ish) rather than making bigger changes or just winging it 🙂
Gill you may not get many responses as you asked the same question just over 2 months ago so people may not want to repeat themselves
But no I don't, I first used an Optium Neo for a month which doesn't have a bolus advisor, I was then moved to Accu-Chek Aviva Expert which I used the bolus advisor for around a month and then decided I was just as well doing the calculations myself and now I chose to move to a Contour Next One which also doesn't have a bolus calculator
I've been using Contour Next One meters for years. Simple, easy to use, bluetooth connection with my phone. (And I have a rather childish fondness for the rainbow-coloured lancets!)
I use mySugr for bolus advisor and just enter the reading & carbs myself.
I do the maths in my head, with me it very much depends on when we walk the dogs .if we walk them straight after lunch then can getaway with approx 30 grms carbs with no insulin . But if eating meat need to inject 3 to 4 hrs later to cover it
