Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone has similar experience and/or pain?

Both my shoulders get very painful if and when I sleep with my arm(s) above my head, I try not to for obvious reasons but sometimes I just wake up that way (it's usually the pain that wakens me).

Just recently I have also been having more pain in my left forearm and wrist, it almost feels muscular but I haven't been doing anything different or unusual. The fact that I have had mild arthritis for years meant that at first I didn't really pay much attention because the pain comes and goes, even wet/cold weather can make life awkward and uncomfortable. The discomfort level has increased significantly though and that's what has got my attention.

I've read that Statins can give muscular pain however, it seems to be predominately leg pain that is being mentioned in those posts. I am on Atorvastatin 10mg daily, which is a relatively low dose as far as I can see, so, I am inclined to think that they are not the problem.

Exercise level doesn't seem to make any difference either, this has left me rather puzzled as a result, any suggestions?

Hi Jimbo. It's worth mentioning the pain to your GP as it could be the statins that are causing it and they can either switch to another type or try something else.

The only things I can think of are frozen shoulder, which normally occurrs in one shoulder at a time and would be a nagging and quite acute pain in all situations.

The wrist and forearm could be a pinched nerve or something in the tendons for the hand and fingers. If you grip something, does the pain feel worse ?

I would consult your GP and see if they can pin it down. 🙂

Hi Jimbo

I know this sounds like a very obvious question, but do you spend a lot of time sat behind a desk or a computer?

I had an assessment at work today where they made sure my chair was set at the correct height so I have the right posture and all that.

As Robster said, definitely worth mentioning to your GP. Best of luck with it!

Thanks Robster and Unicornz for the suggestions, unfortunately it is both shoulders that are effected but only my left forearm and wrist, weird huh?

That made me rule out the frozen shoulder scenario as usually you only get one at a time.

I drive for a living so, ok, it's not a desk, but I must change gear a couple of thousand times a day. But it's no different to what I have been doing for the last year, so, again, I had discounted that as a possible.

It looks as though I'm going to have to see the Doc and see what he can come up with, as you guys suggested.
Thanks again!

Get it checked out. When I had an assesmnet I was told any repetative action (like changing gear lots) can cause a repetative strain injury. Do you work for someone or for your self? It is worth getting a risk assesment done too.

Jimbo.......i have a similar pain area (shoulder to elbow and the onto wrist when it got worse) I have subacromial bursitis (think thats right). Swelling in the bursal sac where arm joins shoulder. Caused by arm position/use for leverage. Steroid injection helps, but not permanent relief. Also seeing physio......

Just a thought.....
