I originally got them from my local pharmacist. He ordered them for me and I had to pay a couple of pounds. Then he could only get huge ones which were too big for home use.

A friend told me that his daughter took them to her clinic appointments and swapped a full one for an empty. She is still at the juvenile clinic.

My wife took a full one to the local health centre to dispose of and they said she could get me a new one - free - so we've been doing that since.

I now need a new one but she's a bit reluctant to even go to the health centre, or to observe the 2m rule.

I think I'll give them a phone ..

During lockdown our sharps bins can only be returned to the surgery for one hour on a Thursday morning and were dealt with via a service door. All smooth and efficient 🙂

In here, Worcester, I get empty ones on prescription, and full ones go to a pharmacy. Not all pharmacies take them, my usual pharmacy doesn't, but the one at the doctor's does, so when I have a full one I use that as an excuse for a lunchtime bike ride to the pharmacy and back.

They've got plenty. Just come in as usual.

Coventry - have to get a prescription which the pharmacy has to dispense, then they take the full one back and immediately pull the dispensing label off so they are anonymous.

Up here where I am in Scotland I take my full one to the chemist where I then get it exchanged for an empty one which shows how much things vary depending where you live xx
Me to Kaylz

This is a helpful chain - thanks. My pharmacy used to take these back and swap for an empty bin but have now told me to call the council. I thought they were just being awkward but based on comments above it seems I must eat my words (thoughts) and track down the council. Oddly the pharmacy will still give me new empty ones....

It’s a local authority / council thing in my area too. Call the council phone line and book a collection, new one is delivered the same morning.
