Yes, we used to buy it and have with fish. It's ok but not overly exciting. We would either steam it with other veg, or heat it gently with a knob of butter. I don't have any other suggestions, I'm afraid.Anyone used samphire before? Does it have a nice flavour? Any information and tips very welcome! TIAx
Thanks PM...harry is an attention hound...think K has a crush on him...wanted to send it in a message...but...since I'm technologically incompetent...couldn't do it...was sure K wouldn't mind a little topic drift...since it wasn't me...it was Harry.Yes, we used to buy it and have with fish. Samphire is best steamed and served with a knob of butter. I think it's delicious, but not everyone's cup of tea. Some folk here pick it from the marshes where I live. When I worked in a pub the locals used to give us bags of it freshly picked. Not sure how well it travels though, unless it's picked near you. No harm in trying it and it's packed with vitamins (not sure which though 🙄)
It's popular to eat with fish (I may be wrong but I think it's from the seaweed family)
You really don't want me to start on marine plant taxonomy.... But I like knowing about things I eat, particularly things I forage.Samphire is best steamed and served with a knob of butter.
