Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi,
I had type-2 diabetes 3 1/2 years now and was taking Metformin 500g in the the morning and evening daily. I started to drink Lemon and Ginger tea since January before breakfast and before sleep in the night daily. last month (after three months of drinking ginger tea) I bought Accu-test mobile blood glucose test machine and tested and found my blood glucose level is 5.2mmol/l when fasting, then I stop taking Metformin and tested my blood glucose level daily before and after(2 hrs) meals and all came normal level and now under 5.0 when fasting and also after meals no diabetics signs at all, it's more than 4 weeks now I am not taking any tablets and all looks good and results are beter close to optimal range, I still didn't go to the doctor for official test due to Covid-19, so I am going to do when Covid-19 situation calm down.
I used to get headache few times every week but no more headache more than a month now.
I last tested in surgery in January and blood glucose level was within Diabetics range, but now no diabetics range at all. I also maintain better healthy eating and drinking now as always use herbal tea and more salads and more regular workouts.
Has anyone have these kind of experience or any advice welcome!
Thanks,
Wasantha

Welcome to the forum @Wasantha

Great to hear about your greatly improved diabetes management.

I rather suspect that the lemon and ginger tea was a coincidence, as we have many members who successfully manage their diabetes at non-diabetic levels, some of whom are also able to come off any medication they were taking, but primarily by eating in a way that their body can cope with, particularly in terms or types and amounts of carbohydrates. Using a BG meter to discover which foods suit them best, and which cause a ‘spike’ in their blood glucose levels.

If you’ve switched from caffeinated drinks to herbal tea that may have helped with your headaches which can be triggered by dehydration.

Glad you’d found a way of eating that suits you.

Hope your next HbA1c reflects the BGs you are seeing on your home meter.

Thank you for your response and more explanation about the solution and results and encourage.
