Hi all, I can post this here because i know you understand what this means. 5 years ago at my annual diabetic eye review i was given the news that i had diabetic background retinopathy.. I was so scared i would lose my sight!

I Just got the results from this years one and no traces of any kind of retinopathy! It's gone! i have the all clear! :D:D:D I have managed over the last few years to really stabilise my BG. My highs don't go as high and my lows don't go as low. If i do bounce the swings aren't so wild and out of control and my middle ground is between 2 much stricter lines. Hba1c is much improved etc. The only thing i can really put this down to is a couple of years on a libre then switching to a dexcom. I am so insulin sensitive its always been really difficult to stabilize. Ratios of 1-20 and 1-18 and tiny basal rate variations on the pump and being able to make changes using the cgm data. I was tagged a brittle diabetic years ago because of wild fluctuations in bg. This is a huge achievement for me!! And my eyes! 😎

Fantastic news CosmicHedgehog..as you rightly say you have very right to be proud...it is a huge achievement...and no doubt a relief...well done.

That's great news @CosmicHedgehog 🙂 It must have certainly been hard work to fine tune things so well - but you have done it! 🙂 Long may it continue 🙂

Thank you! It has been very hard work and i don't always get it right, but getting it much more right than i was a few years ago lol

Well done, and great result

What fantastic news. I am so pleased for you you’ve obviously worked very hard.

That's brilliant, very well done! Lots of hard work. It's always a nervy moment opening that envelope...I imagine you had a little jump up and down...possibly a little dance?! 🙂

Well done!

Over the years I've sometimes had background retinopathy and sometimes I haven't. Whichever it lasts for a few years and then either re-appears or disappears again. At the moment it's apparently 'hiding' again. (No diabetic changes is what they actually say) Since it's never been anywhere near bad enough to be looked at again before 12 months, I shan't lose any sleep in the foreseeable future. If that changes again - then obviously that depends on how soon the next appointment is going to be, as always.

I am relieved of course - however I always look on the down side in private and think one day I'll probably wake up with a list of -opathies LOL

Congratulations Becky!

Great to hear your hard work has paid off and that you have had the all clear from your most recent retinal screening. May you have many more!

I can only add a big Well Done to everyone else and something to be very proud of indeed,

Fantastic news. Well done on controlling you numbers and achieving this.

Great news. It's the thing I worry about most my eyes. We are blessed to have this sight in the first place.

Well done you!

Excellent news, you have done so well. Thanks for sharing with us and enjoy the relief and celebrations
