Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi All,
I was diagnosed with diabetes last week by my Doctor. My count of 48 although she didn't fully explain what it meant. I was to make an appointment with the Diabetic nurse which will not be for 2 weeks.

She did advise me also to look at the Diabetes UK website.

My weight needs to be addressed as also my diet. I have struggled to lose weight. I enjoy swimming and walking and have started to be more consistent in these activities since being advised. Although haven't been for a walk for two days just not feeling like it.

Can anyone give me any advice I weight 13' 11lbs. 5ft 4ins. 60yrs old. and of Caribbean descent.

Welcome to the forum Anita. You will find the Weight Loss Forum and Sports / Activities sections of these boards especially useful. In some areas, GPs can refer people to Weight Watchers or Slimming World at free or reduced cost. Some areas have exercise referral schemes, sometimes needing GP referral, others by self referral / just turn up eg health walks, "let's get active in the park", reduced cost swimming, gym etc at specific times, outdoor table tennis tables, some with free to borrow bats and balls. Parkruns are free 5km timed events at 9am in England and Wales, 9.30am in Scotland and Northern Ireland, each Saturday morning - you can walk / jog / run / any combination.
