Our commonest kitchen accident was mum leaving the pressure cooker on too long and the weight blowing out of the top and blasting stuff all over the ceiling. (Younger members - the pressure cooker was a sort of early microwave...😉)

Ahh, I still use a pressure cooker on a regular basis - mainly to 'boil' my potatoes and cook kidney beans for chilli. Also do 'pot roasts' in it, and steak and kidney for pies and puddings on the rare occassions I make them. Also cook my christmas puds and any other steamed pud in them, altho' have been known to use that new-fangled microwave thingy for steamed puds - you can do a really quick 'steamed' syrup sponge pudding (sorry for mentioning the 's' word!) Spotted Dick anyone!

Ox tail soup made with real ox tails brilliant

Tripe and cow heel pie, no thanks...

I'm with your there Caroline. I do occassionally buy a pork knuckle, including trotter, to make stock for a rich casserole.

Especially that posh lady! They were all fooled by his 'eco' pitch - they didn't really listen to what he was saying because he didn't tell any lies - shows how gullible people can be.

... He did serve me and my sister boiled tripe one day, but never a second time - talk about 'really disgusting food'! (Getting back on topic!)

I used to have trip when I was little, my granny used to do it in a creamy leek sauce. Was yummtastic :D:D Now however I wont go near the stuff, its just wrong when you know what it is!!

I once had badger stew. Please dont ask how or why! Anyway it wasnt as offensiv as you may think. And I didnt know what it was when I ate it.
