these bg readings are annoying 5.8 morning ,7.6 after breakfast, down to 4.8 before lunch,
lunch ham and tomato sandwich seeded bread, small piece of cheese and cucumber slices, after two hrs 9.6,thought that lunch was quite healthy

Those numbers are pretty good! 🙂 What did you have for breakfast? What kind of bread was it for your sandwich? I prefer Burgen Soya and Linseed bread as it is lower in carbs than most other seeded breads (due to part of the flour being soya flour). Also, I think Lidl do a good 'protein' roll (or is it Aldi?) that is both filling and kind to levels 🙂

My readings are confusing before meals I usually read between 5.2-6.2 then 2 hours after around 8.5 it will then drop to pre meal readings within 40 minutes is this normal?

That sounds pretty much perfect @Lisaa 🙂

i had weetabix for breakfast,a coffee and two sugar free biscuits, the bread with my lunch is hovis granary,1.3 grams sugar per slice and 17.6grams of carbs per slice, yes perhaps i need to look for another bread as suggested,im only in week two of writing everything i eat down, trial and error at the moment

The Burgen Soya and Linseed is about 12g carbs per slice, so you'd have 15g less in a two-slice sandwich 🙂 It's very tasty too, my favourite! 🙂 Looks like you had much better results from your Weetabix then, diabetes can be a bit contrary like that and it can take a while to discover whether things are OK most of the time or just some of the time - it's a bit of a marathon, not a sprint, your experience will build as the weeks progress 🙂

will give that a try then,i still get the urge to snack between meals, trying to drink instead, bit of willpower needed

so much grain - no wonder your BG levels go rather high.
You are eating as much starch from wheat in a day as I might have in a week, or maybe a fortnight. I'd never be able to maintain normal numbers at that rate.
As for 'healthy' - I take it to be a coded message to avoid at all costs.

My waking reading is normally around 6.2-6.8 500mg metformin with breakfast which is usually fresh fruit and a big splodge of extra thick cream. A similar lunch with meat, cheese and salad and in the eveninbg with second Metformin a sensible cooked meal. Rarely get the BG over 7.5 now at any time and mid 5's to 6's. I have to admit I no longer eat bread or grain products or eat high GI Carbs. I found the portion sizes are important even if you have four or five mini meals through the day the intake quantity can really bother the BG readings. I think lidl do a Low GI bread now but if not it IS available. For what its worth I would skip the bread for a couple of days and factor that out to start? As per the previous post my diet is Atkins now in all but name!
