I got 7/7. Its so badly written though. Sometimes its better to not have desert sometimes it might help other times it makes no difference.

I'm quite shocked about how some of the newer people have been treated. When I got it i had some support and my levels where stable when i left hospital. I've heard of people being let lose after 48 hours, having done one injection themselves with no number to phone for help! Horrible!

Yes, the care is often very patchy :(

I was at diagnosed at death's door with DKA on the Wednesday. Out of hospital on the Saturday (complete with humulin I, syringes, autolet and bm strips) and walking to school (sixth form) on the Monday morning. It was in the Easter holidays so I didn't miss any school either. I know everyone's different but some people have weeks off work. o_O The team at the clinic and support from the DSN was great though.

I was in for 8 days, but most of that time was because they thought I'd had a heart attack - they seemed more concerned about that than the fact that I, like Matt, had also been at death's door with DKA. I went in on the Monday and suspect I would have been out on the Wednesday except they wanted me to have an angiogram - they wouldn't even let me walk to the loo until I'd had it. I ended up having to wait over the weekend and left the following Tuesday after about 10 minutes instruction from the hospital DSN and only enough needles to last a couple of days - I had no idea how to go about getting more supplies. That being said, the after care I got from the clinic DSNs couldn't be faulted 🙂

It were rubbish either/or questions though so a bit pointless.

I was told by a doctor on the phone and then the next day had 30 minutes with a diabetic nurse. I remember looking at my bag of paraphernalia the next day and not a clue how to inject or how to test. Luckily I knew my friend next door had a son with type one so I arrived at her door in my pyjamas crying and asking for help! Without her I would never have survived. I do know it is good I didn't have to go to hospital so grateful for that.

I have heard so many stories like this recently, the more recent ones sound worse. I know the NHS is on its knees but with good control we cost less. Better control is less meds, and testing for that reason alone it makes sense to support us never mind the other complications when it goes wrong!

did not realise that anyone that did not agree 100% with LCHF, Atkins and every other FAD, would leave themselves this open.
As I've already said at least twice, LCHF has been successfully used for over 150 years — that's rather long-term for a "fad". 🙄
