This test was private but the lab is NHS or contacted by the NHS so I no concern over reliability.

GP test results November 16th 2020 were 125 mmol/mol

Private test results February 19th 2021 were 42 mmol/mol

Back in November I changed my diet straight away and tested like mad and soon got into a rhythm thanks to you lot and all the help information here. Early Feb I started working out on my treadmill but in a controlled way not going mad like I have done in the past so I now monitor my HR with a chest strap and my smart watch logs all the stats onto my phone so I have full control of what I'm doing.

Food has been the biggest eye opener for me as in the past it has just been Cal based not carbs so diets were just hell, now I eat amazingly well and now I have mastered Keto bread from scratch using my bread maker I really enjoy my food more than ever, I feel full for much longer so no more diets just a few changes for the rest of my days, this way of thinking takes so much pressure off me, I can eat great food without feeling constantly deprived.

I am so pleased with this reading my weight is coming down at a sensible speed so no disappointments mood is better. I am also aware that things will change over time and will always have diabetes but I am controlling it, it is not controlling me at this time.

Will post GP's HbA1c results mid March but I'm confident the results will match maybe even lower by then, Im well chuffed.

Mark 🙂

Mark, I am absolutely thrilled for you. That is a great result, but judging by your daily fasting readings you have every reason to believe that your next HbA1c in March will be better still. I will be shocked if it isn't.
You have really got your head around all the aspects of diabetes control and worked hard to find the right solution for you and I think you need to be our new poster boy!....
Huge "WELL DONE!" from me.

Reading your post has put a tear in my eyes, so many lovely people here, so supportive.
Thanks

That is fantastic and it is all down to you.

Brilliant. An excellent proactive post. 🙂

Well done @Maca44 ! So pleased for you. Like your quote above..you are controlling it..it's a really positive statement. So many people seem to be reluctant to try to take control. I know it's not always possible but you won't know if you don't try and no one values your health more than you do. Look forward to hearing your next result. Keep calm and carry on lol 😛

What lovely news - you must be so pleased, and should also feel proud of yourself for obviously taking control of things. Well done indeed!

Well done!! that is an amazing change in such a short time you can only be proud of yourself and an inspiration to others by what you have achieved

Now the pressure is on...😉. Seriously well done - that is fantastic.

Congratulations on the great result @Maca44. Brilliant! 😛 🙂 :D

Brilliant news @Maca44
You should be very proud of yourself.

Quite a seismic shift in A1c, @Maca44 - huge well done.

If your test was done by MonitorMyHealth, here is something from their website describing their lab and offering:

Yes I did use these after some research they were fast posted Thursday results notification email they were ready to view on my account sent at 2am this morning, obviously I was asleep.

Test was easy to understand but if your needle phobic it is quiet a deep jab to get the amount of blood needed hence a plaster in pack, it's more agressive than a BG monitor jab , cholesterol one next methinks.

I agree, those lancets are brutal! My environment usually looks like there's been a chainsaw massacre when I've finished.

Some of the tests need more blood than others, but the thyroid panel I usually have needs the little vial filled. (I'm about due another go. ............ [shudder])

It is an impressive service and they're very easy to deal with.

I once had to ask them to repeat a test as they hadn't mentioned the potential for Biotin Assay Interference, at a time I was supplementing B12. There was absolutely zero issue with them sending a duplicate test and rerunning it free of charge.

Congratulations, that's fantastic really well done, an inspiration to me and other newbies too.

I will see what mynGP says next week otherwise I will try one.

Belated congratulations from me too @Maca44

So encouraging to hear how positively you have been able to manage things, how easy it seems to be for you to continue going in the same way for the foreseeable future, and the dramatic and positive effect it has had on your diabetes management 🙂

R thanks, yes things are going good at the moment but I am always aware that things will/might change so just taking a day at a time but feel more relaxed about this total change in lifestyle and most importantly I'm eating well and enjoying my food/exercise which is key if I am going to take control over my body/mind.
