Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi folks

I’m new here & pretty new to diabetes T2. Managing well & weight/HbA1C all coming down nicely. I have other health issues which mean I struggle daily with varying fatigue levels. One thing that is heavily impacted is meal prep. I’ve asked on a different forum about meal prep ideas & loads of folks talk about the Hello Fresh type prepped meal boxes. I’ve had a bit of a scout around but their so called low carb meals seem too high for the recommended 130g/daily max.

I was wondering if anyone out there has found anything in this area that is genuinely diabetes friendly?

Have you looked to see if there’s a local company? One near me has just started up. I’d imagine a smaller company might be more flexible.

It might be worth checking out some of the Slimming World ready meals that Iceland do as some of those are not too bad especially if you have half a portion and bulk out with veg or salad.

The supermarkets sell ready made basic salad, meat ready chopped, bags of frozen vegetables ready to use.
I often make a curry from a couple of packets of things dropped into the air fryer, a mug of water and some spices, then steam some cauliflower for myself as a rice substitute.
I have various devices which have timers or thermostats so I put the food in and leave them to get on with it, and I often make a double portion and freeze the remains for another day.
If you buy things which are going to save time and effort it can make a big difference to the time taken to prepare a meal.
Just taking things out of the freezer early in the day, so they defrost and are ready cuts down time in the kitchen.
My daughter tends to cook from frozen, and spends ages waiting for things to cook.

Do you mind me asking where you are? Roughly. Or where the new company is that’s just started?

I’m in the West of England @Yellowyodie I’d give you the name of the company but I can’t remember it. I only realised it existed because I saw a van go past with pictures of veg on it and vaguely looked at it because I assumed it was a new veg delivery company. All I managed to take in before it drove off was ‘health’ and ‘meal prepping’, then I realised what it was.

Sorry that’s not much help. If you Google where you live along with “meal prepping” and variations of that, hopefully you’ll get some companies near to come up.
