Relationship to Diabetes
At risk of diabetes
Hi, I have just received a shock today as as a result of a general blood test my gp has told me I am pre diabetic. I just took the "are you at risk questionnaire" on this site and came out at low risk. So I am a little concerned and confused. I am not at all overweight, I don't smoke, am abstinent from alcohol, I have no family links, my waist measurement us fine. I run 5k three times a week and walk long distance trails. My diet is healthy. The only thing I can think of is that I have a bar of chocolate most days.......am I going to have to give this up too ( it's about the one treat I have left !) I can't work out any other thing to do you improve my health. Any comments would be very welcome

Hi @Talbothays Tess! It must have been quite shocking to be told this. There can be many different reasons we develop Type 2 diabetes even if we have a healthy weight and are active!

I wonder if any other people on the forum have had similar experiences when they were diagnosed? Or maybe they can give you some advice about what you can do 🙂
