I had my first high risk foot clinic phone call today for my Charcot foot, I used to go every 6 weeks but that stopped in February. It went as I expected- how are your feet? keep doing what you're doing etc as the clinics aren't running and it's emergencies only. I was given the number in case of an emergency and told I'd be reviewed by phone in a few months.

It's hard not to get really fearful as having been told I should have a below knee amputation but having chosen to try and keep going as long as possible I can't have an emergency open wound/further fractures because it would be the end of my precious leg. I'm so glad I've found a private podiatrist who has seen me 3 times this year to try and stop my skin from breaking down under my cast.

I know there are far worse medical problems going undiagnosed and untreated during Covid with dire consequences for people. It is a seriously worrying time. My fingers are crossed.

My fingers crossed too @Flower, a very worrying time for you. You are doing so well x

Sorry for being nosey should you not be having your cast changed?

Hello @Flower, flipping heck girl amongst other sayings this is so unjust
ok I`m at risk too but you have been through that whole situation and come
out the other end fighting to save your leg which so far you have done.

Admiration for your battle because you won`t give in well done, I hope it
never becomes a part of my battle not sure I would be as brave as you.

My appointments are still every six weeks and I`ve said to you before if
there was a way to transfer my appointments to you, you would be more
than welcome.

Please keep fighting we are all here for you but not going through it.

Take care sweetheart {{{HUGS}}} and kisses for you, xxxxxx Ted.

My cast has been split down the front so I can take it on & off to check on my skin/attend clinics without having to go back & forth to the plaster clinic . It’s held on tight with straps around the cast. I get a new one made every few months when it starts feeling too loose.

Ah thank you Ted that is so kind. It seems to be a lottery which clinics are carrying on in different areas and I do find it odd that I can pay to go to a private podiatrist but only have an emergency option to see the NHS. Ah well I’ve hobbled on for a long time, I hope I can keep it like that!

I hope your feet are behaving themselves and you’re doing ok xx🙂

Do the high risk clinic know their lack of anything useful has meant you are needing to pay to get treatment and how disgusting this is?

I asked because I remember you mention cast change in the past.

That sounds a good strategy with the cast @Flower . I hope it is making things easier.
Also pleased that you have access to the private podiatrist.

I told them I was only managing my feet by paying for private podiatry. I get that the clinics aren't running and I'm sure they would much rather be dealing with high risk feet and averting emergencies rather than giving out an emergency number. I'm not on my own but it is frustrating and very worrying.

So pleased to hear you have finally had some contact with the high risk foot clinic @Flower

So sorry that the clinics still aren’t running and you’ve had to get private appointments. I suppose at least you’ve got the emergency number, which is something. But you really arent being looked after :(
