I had my first high risk foot clinic phone call today for my Charcot foot, I used to go every 6 weeks but that stopped in February. It went as I expected- how are your feet? keep doing what you're doing etc as the clinics aren't running and it's emergencies only. I was given the number in case of an emergency and told I'd be reviewed by phone in a few months.
It's hard not to get really fearful as having been told I should have a below knee amputation but having chosen to try and keep going as long as possible I can't have an emergency open wound/further fractures because it would be the end of my precious leg. I'm so glad I've found a private podiatrist who has seen me 3 times this year to try and stop my skin from breaking down under my cast.
I know there are far worse medical problems going undiagnosed and untreated during Covid with dire consequences for people. It is a seriously worrying time. My fingers are crossed.
