Hi Billy. Both are good and low carb. Salted are lower in carbs than dry roasted. You would need to check he lables as most of the dry roasted have different coatings.

Have a look on My Supermarket as they show the nutrition values of most foods.

Hi all salted or dry roasted peanuts as a snack any info gratefully recieved
I'm type 1 so not sure if my body reacts differently to that of someone with type 2 but I find peanuts are fine then hit the system about 6 hours later which is when I notice the blood sugar rises a bit. It's like all things nice moderation is the key.

Same with me Sue.

2oz of salted peanuts is about 6 carbs.

The quantity is key to managing them.

What you haven't taken into account is the high protein, protein eaten on it's own tends to cause blood sugar hikes anything from 4 - 6 hours after eating it. 🙂

I haven't had a problem with them. Eaten as a snack mid Sunday afternoon and bloods late evening have been fine.

Maybe this is just horses for courses.

Or nuts for guts. 🙂

Agree about horse for courses as this seems true of any foodstuffs and diabetes. When first started out, watched NHS advice on TV to have porridge oats - tried and spiked hard. Read one website lambasting peanuts as pure evil (not just for those allergic). But having given up almost anything I could snack on easily including all cereals, I persevered with dry roasted for last two years and latest HBA1c was 5%, blood pressure etc fine, no meds yet. Ashamed to say I eat over 100g a day but low carb keeps weight pegged. Got to replace those carbs somehow. I have them mixed with scrabbled egg! No Nigela, me. I'd say test and enjoy if meter says yes.

I'm fine with nuts. Usually have salted peanuts as a snack. Just a couple of handfuls at a time.

Peanuts, particularly dry roasted, were my snack of choice for quite some time after diagnosis. However, whether by coincidence or not, I started to develop a recurring mouth ulcer. Then, when I was very ill a couple of years ago and couldn't eat anything for three weeks (really! 😱) the ulcer disappeared. I haven't eaten peanuts since and haven't had the ulcer since! I told my dentist about it and he hadn't heard of such a thing, so it may have been just coincidence. I think cashews may actually be lower carb than peanuts. Walnuts are supposed to be very good for you - my problem is that I only like them when they have a coffee-cream walnut whip underneath them! 😱 🙂

Cashews are the highest carb ones. Brazil nuts are the lowest with Macadamia nuts coming in a close second.

I love Brazils. Covered in chocolate.:D

I'm a nut snack luverrrrr!

Mark - me too sad to say *sigh* Do you eat the chocolate first with the nut stuffed in your cheek?

Almonds are the nut that keeps on giving! You will be finding a bit of almond for a good couple of hours after eating just one!

I love Brazils. My husband always has a couple squares of milk choc as a treat, when I have my 90% dark. If I really fancy some of his milk choc, I have it with Brazils to slow the sugar intake down, and nibble a bit from each in turn. Instant Chocolate Brazils!

Aargh! Damn you, Autocorrect, you've turned into a greengrocer! Had to go back and eliminate apostrophes from every 'Brazils'.

My Samsung phone autocorrect is awful! Damn thing invents words!

Mine used to insist my name was 'Comettve'. I'm sorry, that's not a word in any language.
Back to the thread, I love nuts. I do my own mix of almonds, walnuts, cashews and brazils (love brazils especially) - because its cheaper to buy them separately then mix them up. Go figure.

Ooh. Dark chocolate Brazils.
My treat is the ones from Hotel Chocolat.
