Do you think that the low-carbohydrate diet for people with type 2 diabetes is a new invention? It’s not.

In the past, before we were afraid of fat and before there were modern drugs to lower blood sugar, the dietary advice was different from today’s. At that time diet was all that was available to help people with type 2 diabetes.

In 1917, low carb diet was all that was available for Type 1s and 2s. If you were Type 2, you probably did well on it. If you were Type 1, you died anyway.

Jodee - diet was the only thing to help ANY kind of diabetes prior to approx. 1923 and to begin with - only if you happened to live in Canada - or knew someone who could get and send you some from there!

Yes I just found it interesting to read some of the pages, back then, the amount / variety of foods wouldn't have been available in UK at all but I guess in the USA climate in parts offered a lot more variety.
