Newly Diagnosed 1YO- Treating Hypos

How many grams of fast acting carbs have you been advised to give.
How frequently is she having hypos.

So we were advised to give her 50ml of pure fruit juice when she's going low. Today she's had two hypos. Yesterday was a bad day with the bug she's had, and had around 3. But the diabetes team have adjusted her ratios since.

I hope that things get a bit steadier for you all, it must be a very steep learning curve, especially with such a young child.

Hi Sarah, yeah I found my way to that section. It's quite nice reading other people's experiences and how they've coped with it. Although most don't seem as young as little O.
I'm sure we actually we're given one of those bags at the hospital, it's a bit of a blur.

Besides the bug upsetting the apple cart you will have the dreaded honeymoon period to deal with

Basically what this means is the pancreas coughs and splutters as and when it please until the last of your daughters insulin as run out. Hence why you have the yoyo effect at the moment. Very difficult not to worry but try not to worry or think you are doing anything wrong.
Things do become easier.
