Welcome to the forum @Val_858

We have lots of friendly experienced folks on the forum whose brains you can pick with any questions or quandaries you come across.

Just ask away - no question will be thought of as too obvious or ‘silly’

Have you been living with diabetes for long or are you newly diagnosed?

Do you take medications for your diabetes or are you treating with diet and activity?

Hi.. i was diagnosed to have diabetes around 2007..i am currently on Metformin and Trulicity injections among other antihypertensive meds and gout medications.. my blood sugars are a bit difficult to control due to shift work being a community nurse as having a regular eating pattern is almost impossible.. i receive very little support from my manager..she has the mentality of getting things over and done with..

Hello again @Val_858 and thanks for letting us know a bit more about yourself.
You have certainly been living with diabetes a long time, and things sound very difficult for you.
As a community nurse as well, it must be difficult for you to keep safe.

I understand that shift work makes eating plans difficult, but do you try to follow any particular plans. Many of us on the forum find that following a low-carb plan helps quite a lot with keeping blood sugars down.
There is plenty of information on this on the forum, and we can send you some pointers if it helps.

Please keep posting and let us know how it's going, either just to share what is happening, or we can try to answer any questions.

Sorry to hear your work life makes managing your diabetes more challenging, and that you don’t get great support from your manager :(

Have you tried moderating the carb content of your meals to see if that helps keep things more stable and less swingy?

Might be difficult with your working patterns, but some forum members find a little preparation ahead of time (eg a fritatta cooked on non-work day to have on work days for lunches, rather than grabbing a carby takeaway sandwich)

Hello and welcome to the forum @Val_858 🙂
