Hi, I am new to this forum but not new to type 2. I managed to reverse an hba1c of 49 to 36 a few years ago by doing keto. But my hair started falling out and I got a load of kidney stones and gradually went back to old ways. Have been in denial for a few years and during covid have put on loads more weight as been eating everything I shouldn’t. I’ve now had to face up to it and was horrified to have an hba1c of 106 and really high blood pressure. I immediately cut out sugar and white carbs, but haven’t gone as strict as before, keeling carbs to below 100gms a day, sometimes it’s only 50. I’ve also cautiously started on metformin and am on my 2nd week now up two pills a day. Fasting bg has been around 11.6. I wonder how long it will take this time? Has anyone had good results from just restricting carbs rather than going keto? Would appreciate any help and support, I am feeling a bit scared!
