Their is a common misconception that T2 is all about cutting out sugar, it isn’t it’s the fast acting
carbohydrates of which sugar is one., that our bodies can no longer handle too well. Things like potatoes esp mashed, rice, pasta, bread esp white, fruit juice is full of fructose (a type of sugar) grapes are the same.
This doesn’t mean you can’t have them , just cut down on them and see what your meter says , till you find good substitutes ,their are plenty of them, fill up on veg that grows above ground , we often have to be careful with fruit.
Just to get you started
We usually have no problems with protein and this is probably going to supprise you, good fats , so if you eat meat, meat is fine including high meat content burgers and sausages, eggs, milk, cheese, cream, butter, mushrooms, many of us tolerate berries better, some nuts are low in carbohydrates
