Hi, just joined the site, I am a type 1 diabetic (16 years now) and I manage my diabetes using a basal-bolus regime (novorapid and glargine insulins). I pretty much eat whatever I like and have ratios to calculate how much to inject - I test my blood 5-7 times a day. I think I manage my condition pretty well, but as ever, I'm willing to learn how to improve from learning new ideas.
I wanted to join up since I don't know any other diabetics and the only folks I talk to about the daily diabetic travails are the docs and nurses, conversations which usually end up in me coming up with ideas of what I should do next!
I guess the biggest effect of having diabetes is that I struggle to stick to a daily routine and find that I sleep in sometimes after staying up late to get my sugars right. I get away with coming into work late because I work at a University and don't have an angry boss to demand that I'm there at 8am every day!
Anyway, enough from me for now, looking forward to chatting with anyone and everyone
