Hope your appointment gives you some answers, and gets your treatment started.
If your result was an HbA1c and is 12% (the old way of measuring it) that is really quite high. If it was a spot-check blood glucose result of 12mmol/L this is again high, but may not indicate the same sustained levels of high blood glucose as and HbA1c (which reflects glucose levels over the previous 3-4 months.
If there is a chance you are T1, and have those kind of high levels, do be careful if you get a ‘pear drop‘ smell on your breath, become breathless, or experience nausea or abdominal pain. These could indicate DKA which needs urgent treatment and is connected to T1 going off the rails.
