Hi all, i've been lurking for a while and thought it was time to say hello.
My GP confirmed last month that my fasting blood test result was 17.4 which confirmed Type 2 diabetes. After 6 weeks on Metformin it has dropped to a steady (fasting) reading of between 5.5 and 6.5. So it seems i can maintain my BS at a reasonable rate.
My worry was cholesterol as the doc looked at my results and had to ring the hospital to veryfy the results as the reading were so high (the highest he had ever seen according to him). My reading was 10.4 and the triglycerides (sp?) were an amazingly high 13.6!
Cue major diet change! No processed bread, if i can see fat on something - don't touch, cholestrol reducing spreads etc etc I hope that this lot helps in getting that reading down a bit.
So i have both to contend with, i need to reduce sugar as well as cut out all fat that i can.
Any pointers to what i can actually eat thats still tasty? I do miss my bacon butties and bottles of coke 😡 now its wholemeal toast (with marmite) and coke zero 😱
