Hello everyone,
Seems the very first piece of advice for prediabetics is Lose Weight... But I am and have always been borderline underweight. Thus have never had to worry about what to eat at all, no diets, just remember to get the fruit and veg in. Its come as a shock. My mother was diagnosed with type 2 around three years ago, and at that point I looked at my diet and did make some changes. Now I rarely eat chocolate, sweets are a very occaisional treat, cakes: well have given up baking completely. Also stepped up on the fruit and veg, and cut down on the alcohol. However it seems this was not enough.
Looked at low GI but that seems to be encouraging fats, and I have slightly raised cholesterol as well, so no bacon and egg breakfast for me.
Went to the doctor for a minor problem, first visit for a couple of years, "you are due these tests, might as well do them while you are here" Couple of weeks later have acquired two health conditions. Dont go to the doctor, they make you sick.
