Hazel - as you know I'm not T2 so I wouldn't ever be asked to take them - but my understanding ever since I was first diagnosed has always been that sending urine full of sugar over any length of time is a pretty guaranteed way to damage your kidneys, cos the molecules of glucose are bigger than all the stuff that's supposed to be there so if you think of the door into the kidney being like a sieve, the sugar 'grit' eventually makes the holes bigger and then all the bugs passing by can now get through these bigger holes instead of passing along and being dealt with by the body some other way like they are supposed to.
I'd have to have a long conversation with a consultant about it, consider it and be convinced, before I'd want to try em.
I'm not knocking them because I'm not in a position to do that - but just telling you all my doubts - OK I wholeheartedly agree the weight loss would be excellent news for all who need it - BUT ....
