Hi everyone I've just been diagnosed type " 2" 3 weeks ago I'm 72 due to corona virus I haven't been able to access much info.
I not sure if my BG readings are ok or not they vary from 4.8 to 8,9

Hi Ray and welcome

Those readings are pretty good depending upon when they were taken. 8.9 is a little bit higher than you might like ideally but it depends upon if it was taken after a meal or if it was perhaps a fasting reading in the morning.
What sort of testing regime are you following and are you keeping a food diary along with your test results?

I’m T2 and only just started insulin, my DN told me I’m aiming for 6-7 when I get up in the morning. I’m hopefu this morning maybe the first time I’ve hit target, yesterday’s readings were quite a bit lower with a morning of 7.2 and low during the day of 6.9.

So your numbers sound close to where you need to be.

Hello @rayboy and welcome to the forum.

There is plenty of help available here and lots of useful links if you have a look at useful-links-for-people-new-to-diabetes.
There is also a link to test-review-adjust, which helps with when and how to take meter readings
There is also a 'Learning Zone' which has a lot of help and guidance and there is a TAB to link to this at the top of the page.

There is a lot of information available and it can be confusing sometimes. We are all different, and it can take a while to find out the right solution for you. There are many of us on the forum that have worked through this, and we will always try to answer any questions you may have.

Welcome to the forum @rayboy

Lots of experience here for you to tap into, and lots of helpful information both here and on the Diabetes UK website.

Many people find Maggie Davey’s letter

and Gretchen Becker’s book ‘T2 diabetes the first year’

to be very useful starting points.

Hi thanks for info.
I am keeping food diary. I take reading before breakfast avg. 5.8 one after lunch avg. 6.5 one before bed avg.7.3
but none of these figures are consistent, since I was diagnosed my eyesight has worsened I have notified nurse but she says nothing can be done while present circumstances exist? I am taking Metformin 3 daily and Gliclazide twice.
