Hi All
I am a parent of a fabulous 8 year old who was diagnosed as type the week before Christmas. I can't describe the relief at being told it wasn't something more sinister, but was still shocked and I suppose have grieved for my little boys life as a non diabetic.
He has amazed us by taking to his new way of life with bravery, maturity and a lot less stress than us as parents.
I will be using this website and forum for support and any hints and tips you can give will be greatly appreciated. I am a nurse and this change in lifestyle has bamboozled me completely with the bit of knowledge I have. Our paediatric team have been fabulous and cannot praise them enough drip feeding us information so as not to overwhelm us. I am truly grateful for modern healthcare/medicines and NHS that we have as I may not have my boy here today
Best wishes from a very grateful Mum
