I really must try and get myself in a frame of mind that all is not lost and i am worth it.

Good luck @Nayshiftin. Can't help you with the programme I'm afraid, I'm still keeping track of my carb count with pen and paper!

Boiled eggs, scrambled eggs omelettes fine, depends on the size of your rye bread slices, if small probably 2 OK if bid then one would be better.
2 slices wholemeal bread may be a bit much, can you add some extra salad or coleslaw.
Sweet potatoes are high carb so you could substitute Butternut squash lower carb and cheaper.
Otherwise looks a good start.

Not what I would eat - not what I'd call low carb either.
All ordinary bread seems high carb to me - I'd have some salad, and/or bacon or cheese with the eggs.
no lunch required, but I don't use margarine, no potatoes of any kind.
Dinner - a big salad or stir fry with the fish, broccoli and cabbage are fine.
I'd have sugar free jelly and berries, but no snacks, no milk - I use cream in my coffee and might add a splash of it to the jelly and berries.

This is on the diabetic website I'm trying to follow all what they say but it is mega high in Calories.

Websites meal planner.

I know there are people who keep track on both the carbs and the calories but that is very hard.
By keeping the carbs low you will tend to have less calories anyway but for many they are keeping carbs low and don't worry about the calories.
Other people go the very low calorie route.
When you say mega high calories how many are you talking about.
For me I found them actually too high carb but then I was going as low as 70g carbs per day, but didn't worry about the calories, lost 15kg and reduced HbA1C from 50mmol/mol to 39mmol/mol which is where I am 2 years on.

I find that calories do not add up when doing low carb.
I am losing weight at the moment - my clothes are getting looser - and yet again, the half a century of being told to cut down on the calories to lose weight is being shown up as simply not true when put to the test.
Now I am approaching 6 years from diagnosis and so my situation is somewhat different, I can go 24 hours without eating without even thinking about it these days. Low carb foods are nourishing, and seem to provide what the body requires, so if I get diverted first thing, I forget to eat.
When I first returned to eating low carb at the point of diagnosis, it was such a relief to feel the need to eat fading and my energy levels start to rise. I did not even have to think about losing weight - did not care really, just wanted the high glucose levels gone.

High blood glucose, weight and lack of mobility are all interlinked and your hip issues are probably not helped by your weight and it becomes a vicious circle. I can appreciate your difficultly as after an accident where I needed knee surgery over 18 months ago I have not been able to do the walking as before and that certainly doesn't help with losing weigh but I have kept to my low carb and thankfully blood glucose has not increased.
If your husband whinges about your efforts at trying to tackle your blood glucose and weight then ask him if he wants to be pushing you about in a wheelchair, doing all the housework, that was my motivation to get a grip as I did not want that for my family.
You mention mackerel but do you like tuna or other fish. Some supermarkets have what they call lightly dusted cod or sole fillets which are low carb, how about veggie chilli or curry, cauliflower, squash and chickpea is one of my favourites with either paneer or hard boiled eggs.

all sounds great . Thank you
i've had one knee replacement . others problematic just waiting game. However my new mantra.

Lots of good advice here. I think the mistake I have been making is trying to keep track of carbs and calories. I plan to concentrate on carbs from now on. Thanks to everyone for getting my mind straight….it was all getting a bit much! 🙂

oh dear im feeling rather low but should not be surprised . My HBA1c is 108.

Oh dear sorry to hear that, I think you will have to accept that you are going to need medication.
Many can manage their blood glucose with diet only but some can't and it looks like you may be one of them.
That is a pretty dangerous level to be at for any length of time so I hope you will acknowledge that you are going to need some additional help at least in the medium term. But that still means that all you can do dietary wise is going to help in the long run.

WhT happens if you refuse medication?
