i was just wondering if anyone who is type 1 diabetic has trouble with nausea/vomiting? over the past few weeks i have felt really sick and have vomited on quite a few occasions could this be a complication of diabetes?

Nausea or vomiting over a few weeks - diabetes or not, that justifies a trip to your GP, as soon as possible.

I'm type 2 so it may not be the same. I have not heard of nausea and vomiting being one of the problems. I know on metformin people get upset tummmies for a little while.

There are a number of other possible causes, and as it has gone on for more than 24 hours, see the doctor, just to rule everything else out

Hi Karen , yes Im type 1 and I do the Nausea , Vomiting thing everyday , I'm

used to it now , I dont know what causes it , sometimes Ive got high levels

other times they are within normal ranges . I am usually worse

first thing in the morning and it eases off during the day. Have you checked

for Ketones just to be on the safe side , I always check for blood Ketones.

I have heard of quite a few of us type 1's who have the same problem.

I've had the nausea most days since I was diagnosed a year ago, but only in the mornings after breakfast and taking my medications, and never to the point of being sick. Are you on any other medication besides insulin? Things seem to have eased a little for me since I stopped taking one of my meds a few days ago, so personally I am blaming them rather than being diabetic/taking insulin.

Hi Karen they are quite realiable yes but Blood Ketone strips are better as Ketones show up in the blood first and only hours later in the urine.
my glucose meter uses blood test trips and ketone ones , it is the optium xceed and you can get one from your dsn if you ask they usually have free ones . let us know how it goes 🙂
