My weight loss and T2D journey

Keep going @pjgtech - onwards and downwards!

Today is the start of week five, can't believe I've already done one third of the course, only two thirds to go!
We can do this...... 😎

You are doing amazingly @pjgtech

You must be very pleased with how it’s going <3

Yes I am pleased, but can always do better. Had a wobble yesterday and had a small salad! so I strayed from the very strict diet, but only slightly. Not going to beat myself up about it, I feel sure everyone who does the 12 week diet must have a wobble every now and again. Back on the shakes today, keep focussing on the bigger picture.... 😎

Day 36 (wk6) of the T2D Pathway to Remission (12 wk) program:
Weight = 94.7kg (total weight loss = 9.3kg or 20+lbs)
Weight loss has slowed from the initial very fast drop in the first couple of weeks, I am now averaging about 2-3lb per week, but thats still ok.
BG = averaging around 4.5 to 6.6. I test about 2 or 3 times per week, not every day, and always in the morning.
Waist measurement = down 5" (12.5cm) and I have now found some old clothes that fit me, as my other normal clothes are now all too big!
BP is now relatively stable.
Am I hungry? no, not really, but I do miss "normal" food. The shakes do seem to be filling/suppress hunger?
Am I struggling? no, not really, not so far.
I am staying positive, and I am still not missing treats (much). If anything, rather than chocolate, or crisps, or cake, I would prefer a nice "proper" meal, rather than a treat.
Still drinking plenty of water, as I think its essential to keep hydrated, and lots of water may, IMHO, also help to suppress appetite.
So slower progress, but its still progress, and the goal is the bigger picture, eg: better overall health, T2D remission, less meds to take, more energy, etc, etc.
I did have a blip last week, I had a bowl of salad, and it tasted SOoooo good! but back on the shakes now.
So.....onwards and lets stay positive, we can do this, nearly half way through.... come on..... 😎

Do you have waist and weight or other targets to keep you focused? They kept me going down to Prof Taylor's magic 15 kg loss and then onwards to 22 kg and his challenge to get back into 32 inch trousers.

Yes, my weight loss target is 85kg, so still 10kg to go, I would be happy with my waist at 36, but 34 would be better, also my BMi needs to get below 25, currently 30. I also want to increase exercise to maybe 30mins per day, currently doing a small workout at 10-12mins per day. Lastly I would love to get my BP down, so I don't need to take BP meds, but not sure if that will ever happen, as I don't think they like taking you off BP meds?

I guess it depends on yr GP and yr circumstances, but in general I don't think HCP's have a problem with dropping BP meds if you're below 120/80 (in most of the world; maybe higher in the UK). Anyway, my GP was happy enough when I got BP down to about 105/65 and decided to drop them.

One caveat is that some BP meds are good for kidneys, which mioght be an issue, depending on how yours are doing.
