As well as my diabetic nurse at my GP surgery the Diabetic nurse at the hospital has also put me in touch with the diabetic community nurses based at the hospital and I can phone or email whenever I feel the need to.

My diabetes is cared for at my GP surgery by the practice nurse who is diabetic trained & while I was in hospital a DSN came to see me & suggested that I also have the support of the Community Diabetes Team.
Since I came out of hospital after having DKA I've been emailing a DSN based at the hospital & who has been supporting me with my diabetes. I've been emailing my BG'S every 2 to 3 weeks & been getting along fine then on Wednesday I had news that the particular DSN has gone on sick leave for at least 3 months due to falling & breaking her ankle ~ I hope she is better very soon 😡 Myself I felt very anxious on Wednesday at the thought of losing my extra support but.... I'm now happy to say that after taking the chance & contacting one if the other DSN'S at the hospital she is more than happy to support me while the other DSN is on sick leave 🙂

I really do like having the extra support & in particular with it being a 'proper' DSN

That's good to hear, peace of mind is very important. I'm under the hospital for my care and I can leave a message and any of the dsn team always get back to me that day and if my dsn is on leave or off I can see any of them if need be.
